Opposing the IT Bill

Chandrashekhar the Great

SHRI CHANDRA SHEKHAR (Ballia, U.P.) :

Mr. Speaker, Sir, I do not know anything about this Bill, therefore, I acknowledge my weakness. I want to say why is it necessary to pass this Bill today only to take the country into 21st century?...(Interruptions) Sir, it has been said just now that anybody could be arrested without warrant anybody’s house could be searched, anybody’s computer could be checked, all these things do not conform to our accepted norms. Keep it pending until it is discussed. Mr. Prime Minister, sometimes you should give directions to your friends. Today you have got a chance to tell them to please bring this Bill in the next Session.
